Life cannot exist without water. Water makes up nearly 85 percent of your brain, about 80 percent of your blood and about 70 percent of your lean muscles. But in reality, our youth now take this for granted.

A typical teenager finds it difficult to drink a glass of water. Give her/him a cup of cold tea and water, she/he will choose a cold tea. Most of our children now do not see the role of the water in our body. As they crave for artificial beverages, they forget to replenish their body with enough water to strain or cleanse the high level intake of sugar and other junk foods which may lead to kidney failure, diabetes or dehydration.

Adults can model or be an example to children in emphasizing the importance of water in our body systems. Let us encourage them to drink plenty of water despite the numerous commercial drinks available in the markets or stores.

Drinking 8 glasses of daily can decrease the risk and aid in the prevention and cure of many types of diseases, ailments and disorders. Moreover, it is free and unlimited.
