Teaching is a rewarding profession. It requires flexibility, creativity and intelligence. A number of teachers find that the work day does not provide enough time to complete the entire task needed for a successful classroom. Most of them spend additional hours working at home.

The main job of teachers is to instruct. Teachers educate their learners in a variety of ways. They adapt to their pupils to determine the best way to teach them a specific concept.

Teachers never fail to plan lessons. Planning takes up a large amount of teacher’s work day. Aside from lesson plans, teachers create their own tests, quizzes, assignments and the materials needed.

One important duty of teachers is to assess learning, and this is usually achieved through evaluating pupils’ output. Teachers use this assessment to determine the information that the pupils understand what needs to be retaught and what should be guided for future instruction.

Teachers spend time helping students before, during and after school. This may include working with small groups of pupils or helping them one on one. Teachers may need to design special assignments for struggling students or may spend extra time helping students who are falling behind. Teachers also spend time counseling by speaking with a pupil about misbehavior in the classroom or helping a pupil who is dealing with problems at home.

Aside from the mentioned obligations, teachers must also perform administrative duties required from the school or district. Teachers must keep records of her pupils. They also attend faculty meetings and trainings.
