Date posted: August 7, 2020Students with disabilities are part of our society. It is clear that we in the education sector, both in the elementary and secondary schools must give full support for their improvement, not only of their personality but also of their total well -being and their interaction with the society through their education and also with the help of their family.
Some of the challenges encountered is the right choice of teachers to be assigned, trainings of these teachers, the concerned parents and additional funds from the national and local levels.
Relative to this, teachers ‘principles and attitudes are diverse. Some are frankly better than others. It is a privilege and great opportunity when we found a great one. Great teachers go above and beyond to be certain that each child is successful. Many educators believe that great teachers are rare. Majority of teachers are capable, but there are a select few who are willing to. So, there is not a single answer who the great teachers are.. Instead, there are several exceptional things that great teachers do. Many for instance are successful teachers of special education learners.
Using diverse strategies by teachers to hearing impaired students will help these kind of students. How do teachers of children with this disability handle them properly?
On the first day of classes the teacher may announce to the class that they can approach him or her in case there are students in the class who have disabilities. Like students who are visually impaired, those who are hearing impaired or other forms of disabilities. The teacher must make her instructions brief as much as possible, He or she can present the lesson through the use of Power Point Presentation or present digital or virtual lessons. Modules or even charts, worksheets and other visual aids which will require more reading than listening skills. Teachers of hearing impaired students must arrange the chairs in circular position to better have a good grasp of the lesson and to better see all their classmates face to face. The most helpful strategy for these students is the one on one or individualized instruction for all. Most of all teachers of students with this disability must be trained on sign language, which may help a lot to both the students and the teacher.
Summing it up, it is a privilege and great opportunity when we found a great teacher for our students with disabilities who will utilize all available strategies for the students.
