I believe that a strong nation will always be the one built by responsible generation. A lot of issues surround our education system today, each with a set of rules to follow and goals to achieve. The role of teachers are becoming more and more complicated. So much is expected from them.

I am deeply saddened by the fact that education is confined in an idealistic pattern, where countless people tell teachers and students what to do and what to learn in school. Those so-called specialists continue to create policies, thinking that their title and the vastness of their educational background is enough to control how learning should take place.

While most people see education in an idealistic way, educators who actually come in contact with the learners view it in a realistic manner. What I am trying to convey is that education is a complex system, and although it has many facets, only two is given attention. The side looked upon by bureaucrats where education is supposedly perfect. Where everyone is amazed with modernization and technology turning a blind eye over the existing problem. The other side is the actual condition and the one happening today. Curriculum flaws, insufficient supply of learning materials, books that do not jive with the skills and competencies, lack of facilities and equipment, poverty, environment and bullying to name a few. In spite of these discouraging facts , teachers take full responsibility in making a child learn under any circumstances.

Recently, a new policy was proposed; House Bills No. 3611 and 3883 which seek to remove homework and to prohibit students from taking textbooks home. It is sad how these lawmakers who have zero to less idea of the actual day by day scenario in the classroom, can create a big change in the education system.

With all these things happening out of our control, it is high time to raise questions. What exactly is the kind of education do we want our children to have? Are we really promoting close family tie? Really, with all the issues regarding gaming addiction, these online apps; facebook, twitter, viber, and instagram. Are we really helping children spend more time with their families? Let the readers of this article be the judge.
