Franklin Roosevelt once said that in the agony of war, great power involves great responsibility. Now, how is that connected to my goal finishing GraduateSchool? Why am I considering graduate school? As we all know, great power can be attained through learning and learning should be a continuous process. In any organization, continuous learning means growth through learning events and experiences. It can be applied to individuals, team, and organizations- a process that will help them to achieve their overall objectives.Undergoing a continuous learning process entails change; one cannot learn and still be the same person, team, or organization. There is a constant evolution in the way we think and act, brought about by new understanding, new knowledge, and new skills. One of the worst phrases that any person or entity can say is “I already know that” because this can very well destroy any chances of continuous learning. And when there is no learning, there is no growth. The continuous learning of an individual would entail a behavior and perception change as he hones and develops his own thinking, skills, and knowledge. An example of this would be: knowing how to handle a new situation, expanding knowledge and skills of a particular area and figuring out another application of current knowledge and skills. It is my great responsibility as a teacher to share my knowledge to students entering Graduate School. I believe, it will help me a lot to increase my knowledge regarding advances & innovation in science and other fields. Everything evolves so as knowledge. Through this the teachers develop his skills and knowledge.
Why is the teacher development important? Becausethe students deserve the best.High quality teaching is a visa for student success. Explore elements of effective professional development and leadership critical for growing and supporting great teachers.Great teachers help create great students. What does it mean to be a great teacher? Of course credentials, knowledge, critical thinking, and all other faculties of intelligence are important. However, a great teacher should be much more than credentials, experience and intelligence.A great teacher bridges gaps and builds relationships, friendships, and a community. Teachers always look to make things better and improve things in and outside of the classroom. Building a community is something a great teacher seeks to do in the classroom and extends that to the entire school and its community. Everyone looks at a great teacher and they want to be a better teacher, they want to be a better student, even better, they want to be a better person. A great teacher uncovers hidden treasures, possibilities and magic right before everyone’s eyes.
In fact, research shows that an inspiring and informed teacher is the most important school-related factor influencing student achievement, so it is critical to pay close attention to how we train and support both new and experienced educators.
In my ten years that I have been teaching, I have learned that being a teacher is not just about teaching my students. I have learnt the basic philosophy that a teacher has not taught until the student has learned. I have learnt that to be a good and responsible teacher, I need to understand how the students learn best and to recognize that individual students have their own learning needs.
Thus as a teacher, I need to guide the majority of the students as well as the minority into a learning environment in which they are comfortable. And I must vary my teaching style to facilitate the learning of different students. My approach should be toward active learning in order to help my students develop independently and take responsibility for their professional and personal development.Teachers must continue to grow in their profession.
Thankfully, there are many avenues open to us for professional growth and development. The purpose of the following list is to give you ideas into ways that you can grow and develop as teachers no matter what level of experience you currently have.Books on the Teaching Profession, Reading Well Established Websites and Journals, Joining Professional Organizations and Attending Teaching Conferences. To be a competent teacher, I need to keep abreast of the current technology and the changing social and economic trends in the country and the region. You can encounter it all in the Graduate School.
I am truly prayerful that my goal is to finish my Masteral studies will eventually come true. It will not only help me to grow as a person but will also help my students a lot by imparting with them the knowledge that I learned. Graduate school is a good venue to share best practices, which like knowledge evolves through time.
