After graduating with a course of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, many expectations came with it-- from myself and the people around.

As an IT graduate, I believe that I possess all the knowledge and skills which I earned from the course. I could operate the systems, processes, applications and understand all intricacies of the computer as well as the works of the internet connection. Every decision which I have to pursue must have something to do with what I can do with the computer. I seemed to envelope myself with all the experiences I gathered from learning about the course. I am confident that I already know everything about computer. These are some of the connotations I have or others like me might have after having been exposed to the subject for four years.

Likewise, people believe that if you are a graduate of BS in Information Technology you can access the computer without difficulty, that you can operate the unit with ease, and that you can facilitate what they need to know about it. More so, they think you have a mastery of all there is to know about computer. There are even a few who think that you can do even the impossible.

We forget to consider that no one has the monopoly of knowledge and the mastery of all skills, with or without computer. Information technology entails a lot of things there is to know and do about information. Processing information is not an easy job and is not just a matter of knowing how to handle computer unit. It covers a wide area and like any other course offers a wide array of areas for concentration and major fields.

However, knowing a lot of things about processing information for the sake of improvement and progress has its benefits, not only for oneself but for many people. It’s a matter of believing not in the person but how the knowledge and skills can be put into practice for the benefit of many people. It matters not whether you are an Information Technology graduate or a graduate of any other course. As long as you know your worth and what you are doing for the benefit of others.
