Balanga City Schools hold Education Summit and Induction of PTA Officers

The effort to build stronger bridges across the Government of Balanga City and Department Education has been observed in the 2nd Annual Education Summit and PTA Officers’ Induction Ceremony last September 16-17, 2010.

The said event was convened by all schools of Balanga City with different schedule at Lou-is Restaurant, Grand Ballroom from 7:00 am – 1:00pm (morning session) and 1:00pm - 7:00pm (afternoon session).

The education summit is a two-day, expense paid by Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia, Congressman Albert Garcia, Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III, Vice Mayor Noel Valdecanas and SP Members.

It is a valuable opportunity for parents to learn about a variety of education topics and managing student behavior. It is also a chance for them to know the latest topics, development and achievement of the pupils.

Mr. Jessie D. Ferrer, the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent OIC, delivered welcome remarks where he tackled about the result of National Achievement Test and the population of pupils enrolled in Balanga City.

His goals include enhancing students’ readiness for higher level, eliminating barriers to students success and increasing the involvement and others in the education process.

After the remarks given by Mr. Ferrer, the Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III gave an inspirational message.

He said, teachers can provide now the information to the learner through the various educational media: in-person teaching, books, computer, projector and other modern equipments. He also encouraged the parents’ involvement and to understand what’s happening in school so they can be active participants toward positive changes.

Dr. Blesilda A. Rios, a broadcaster of DZAS – 702 and an author of a tiny book called Memo ni Mommy: Mga Kaalamang Pampasigla ng Pamilya gave an inspiring message on “Effective Parenting”. She shared to the parents some tips on how to enhance family relationship, responding to parenting challenges, harnessing social skills, school boosters, and managing financial challenges. According to her, the parents who care and mold the children must aware and take time to maximize trainable years which is below 8 years old.

The advocacy of Parent Learning Support System (PLSS) was discussed by Dr. Flordeliza Del Rosario, ES 1, Science.

She said that one characteristic of successful educational is parental involvement in the education of children. This might involve many strategies, like providing a place for parents in the school where they can visit and special events that might attract them.

Mrs. Mercedita C. Gallardo, ES 1, TLE, a discussant of Teacher Child Parent Approach (TCPA) gave a very meaningful message. According to her, the communication among teachers, parents and children in many ways, is the most important. This is the time you are building rapport and developing a relationship of trust.

The workshop on School Improvement Plan and Annual Implementation Plan was explained by Dr. Leonardo D. Zapanta, OIC – Asst. Schools Div. Supt. It includes how to assist schools to plan and communicate their work for the coming year and how this will lead to achieving the goals and targets in the school strategic plan. It also ensures efficient and effective allocation of resources to complete the work and monitor progress or success.

After the meaningful workshop, the school teachers and parents made a commitment to continuously enjoin themselves to the fulfillment of this activity for the betterment of the children and school as well.

When the Education Summit was successfully concluded, the PTA Officers’ Induction Ceremony followed with Hon. Joet Garcia as Inducting Officer. The teachers and parents whole heartedly sworn to do the job entrusted to them.

Part II of the program was inspired by a colorful message of Hon. Val Joseph M. Fernandez, chairman, SP Comm. On Education as he supported also the great goal of DEPED and PTA Officers. This will bring our city to improving the quality of Education.
