In the office, stress is one of the typical problems that we may encounter. It strikes when you feel that everything is under pressure if the demand in your work is high plus dealing with other people with different attitudes. And if you are under stress, it can affect your work performance. You will become less effective, burnt out, loss of control and worst, it can reduce your mental and body health condition.

Work-related stress issues need to be addressed properly. It is very important for us to cope-up and learn stress management so that we can improve ourselves, serve our clients better and do our jobs more effectively and efficiently.

I can say that working with DepEd Balanga City is a great privilege and a very challenging journey at the same time. There is a lot of people in my workplace that I need to get along. Tons of paper works, rush reports and deadlines are some of the stressful situations I need to deal with everyday. It’s a good thing to say that the agency I am working with has taught me to manage all these stress. And if I feel that I am under pressure, here are the basic things I do to successfully manage the stress:

  1. Stop for a while and take a breathing exercise
  2. Know your stressors
  3. Take control
  4. Relax, take a break and recharge
  5. Manage your time. Make a “To-Do List” (Prioritizing the most important and rush document/report)
  6. Think positive (All problems has a solution)
  7. And most of all, PRAY, for guidance and strength

There is so much in life that we have to be thankful. We have our families, friends, work, and colleagues. Not all people have it. Sometimes the problems that we are encountering is only a blessing in disguise, its either it will become a blessing or it will teach us an important lesson in our work or in our lives to become a better person. You just have to realize and embrace it.

How about you, how do you contend with stress in your work?
