Entering adolescence is always accompanied with many physical, emotional, psychological and social changes; it is part of this stage of life. Young people sometimes feel down.

Based on observation, many young people feel stressed and confused and feel that life is unfair. They can feel deep disappointment or rejection through family or academic expectations. Teens are exaggerating when things go wrong in their surroundings, specifically in school or at home. They are affected by having a conflict to someone which includes parents, friends and society.

Adolescent depression is when teens’ moods disrupt their ability to function on a day-to-day basis. It needs attention specially when it gets serious emotionally or mentally. Parents or caregivers must take action. Adult guidance is needed to understand all the emotional and physical changes teens are experiencing. But on a serious note, teens become depressed despite everyone’s best efforts.

Family history or difficult life events are some factors that leads to depression. Death or divorce may increase the negative thought or feelings for someone having depression. People can help by talking to them and let them feel that they have someone who will never leave their side. Being a true friend to them can lessen the negative feelings.
