Leadership is not an easy task. It requires patience, hard work, positive attitude and behavior to overcome difficulties and surpass trials inside an organization. Leadership leads people to do better and influence others to do great things. But what does it take for a leader to be successful?


In education leadership is a vital part in the success of a school. Leadership carries heavy responsibilities that necessitates good leadership skills and management. To be an effective leader in education, it includes variety of aspects which is imperative for an organization to reach the top. Great leaders have so much things to offer and often time requires innovative ideas to uplift the quality of education as well as the system inside the organization. The influence of a leader carries a great weight.


For a leader to stand out among the rest there are few things that he could do to demonstrate effectivity and efficiency and in the end become successful. First, there should be a positive communication between a leader and its subordinates. Communication is the key to the success of an organization however it is one of the most difficult part of the organization. Positive communication towards people brings positive results and creates a friendly environment. When communication is properly handled with care there will be less problems that might occur. Second, a leader must learn how to express gratitude. Showing appreciation through gratitude is imperative to invigorate the desire of the teachers to work harder. Gratitude is a way to build teachers that are trustworthy for the position. Third, a leader unites the team. To reach the top everyone must work hand in hand to achieve desirable results for the improvement of the organization. Unity brings a feeling of value and respect towards each other with less contention that hinders the success of an organization. Fourth, empowering and developing others. Helping each other is a good practice to bring out the best of anyone. Empowering includes sharing of expertise and knowledge towards others to add worth to others. Empowering and developing others is not selfish but rather focused on in helping others. Finally, a good leader takes responsibility. A leader should be willing to accept responsibility and takes accountability in his decisions. It requires firmness in his decision but at the same time careful study prior to every decisions made.


There are so many things that one must learn to be successful leaders in an organization. Leaders must motivate people to achieve a common goal. While there are some leaders that are innately born with special gifts in leadership. Good leadership skills can be studied, pondered and applied in school setting as one is willing to embrace learnings through meekness in listening to others and patience in studying.


In school there are abundant issues and challenges that need to be address however there are solutions that can be use to solve existing problems and turn the table into an organized school that produces quality education for the society.
