“I am tired. No one wants to help.”

In this rapidly evolving, ever changing world, not only young children always want to get attention and want to be heard but also adults who are mere workers, mere employees who give their all and everything for their work. Yes, employees want attention, too. Employees who do a particular job to earn money in order to support their family and themselves. Some employees tend to be so timid and do not mingle with other co-workers and colleagues. Unfortunately, there are series of serious news reports about employees dying because of suicide. People think that when you become an adult, you are strong since you can handle hundreds of workloads in a day. They think that if workers handle lots of work-related problems in their workplace, what more of their own personal issues. This, in reality, is not true. Workers cannot get through the day without getting support from the people who loves them and without the people who supports them. These people may really have the tendency to commit suicide and end their lives immediately, so it is important that we know how to identify signs of persons who are feeling distressed and depressed.

What are the signs that a person is distressed? Some people lack self-esteem. Self-esteem is the confidence and satisfaction in one-self. It is the respect that you give yourself. Self-esteem lets you work productively and efficiently with others. The higher your self-esteem is, the more chances you achieve your goals through socialization. When a person has low self-esteem, he thinks less of himself, feels worthless and depressed. Some employees prefer to work independently. This may already be a sign that he is not comfortable talking with other colleagues and working as a team. The more that they stay alone, the more that they feel unworthy of themselves.

Another sign of distress is the lack of socialization skills. Not everyone is born with lots of self-confidence nor willing to take risks to achieve his goals. Many people tend to become pessimistic about themselves, their lives and the people around them. They try to build a wall between them and the world where they live. This lack of socialization skills is rooted to their fear of rejection. Different types of workers can be found in a workplace – bossy type, hardworking type, lazy type, talkative type and more. You may also see different genders like gay, lesbian, transgender and even bisexual. Since there are different groups of people who always go together, they find it hard to approach them. Or even worst, they find it difficult to deal with their coworkers’ attitude.

How can you help? It is quite a difficult battle for those who are experiencing distress. They need immediate attention and people who are willing to listen and willing to notice them. What you need to do is, first, try to identify and figure out the root cause of their negativity. Next, help them channel this negative things to some other things like sports, yoga or other worthwhile activities. Then assist them to look for more positive network from families and friends. In this way, we can save more workers would keep the company going and growing.

The best thing that you can do is to be sensitive about the people around you as they also have their own struggles that they fight. They are hesitant to ask for help as they fear to look incompetent in front of their colleagues. So please, notice.
