The Educhild Parenting Program has started in 2011 and I was chosen to attend a 7day seminar held at Balanga Elementary School. The program aims to promote family enrichment through trainings. The training provides parents the knowledge in emotional and spiritual aspect that enhance their skills in good parenting and encourage them to be good citizens. During the last day, the program featured “ Beyond I Do”. The task includes enrichment activities which the parents evaluate their relationship with their partners/spouses and their role in rearing their children. Thus, the annual Educhild Parenting Program is being held in City of Balanga National High School.
On December 05, 2016, the Educhild Parenting program with its 6th batch of participating parents started in COBHNS Audio Visual Room. The seminar was held every Monday and Friday, from 2:10pm to 4:10pm. All the participants looked forward in attending the seminar because they too, believed that the program could help in rearing their family.
The training features the following modules:
On each module includes tasks to accomplish. The participants share their insights about the topic after the discussion of the assigned speaker. The program lasts for five days. During the final day of the training, a small gathering is arranged as a thanksgiving for the success of the Educhild Parenting program. In total, 43 couples completed the ten modules.
Before the school year ends, I went back to some of our participants to hear some of their feedbacks after they completed the program. “Mas naging maalab ang relasyon naming mag-asawa dahil mas nalaman naming ang mga paraan upang mas maging maayos ang aming pagsasama.” “ Lalo na ang watong komunikasyon sa pagitan n gaming mga anak.” “ Saka Ma’am Marantal, ang laki ng impact sa pag-aaral ni Jhane Karla, tumaas po ang kanyang mga marka.”-Mrs. Karoline Samson told me.
The program did not only helped her relationship with her husband, but it also had an impact with the improvement of her child.
On the other hand, Mrs. Leah Barcelonio said, “ Ma’am, mas naging maayos ang pagsasamahan namin ng anak ko.” “Tumaas din po ang marka ng aking anak na si JJ.” “Marami akong natutunan sa lahat ng modules na maaari kong i-apply sa tunay na buhay.” The modules reflect context that can be applied in real life, helping the parents understand their role in the family and how it impacts in the growth of their children.
These are just few of the evaluation and feedbacks of the parents to the Educhild Parenting program.
If this seminar will continue, many citizens of Balanga City would benefit in this kind of programs given by the City Government in cooperation with Deped.
In good parenting, we will be assured that we would have disciplined and responsible young generation who will be the next leader of our City.
