When I was young, I always dreamed of becoming a Nurse, to work in an office, to be a teacher and to have my dream house. Most of the time, I would wish to finish my studies already so I could finally start working and make my dreams a reality. I was always that excited. I’ve been raised to believe that wonderful things happen after I finish college and become a professional. Although I’ve been through the usual hurdles of being a teenager, I am set to finish my studies and pursue the career that I chose.

After passing the board examinations, I was confident that everything was finally falling into the right places. But, I was wrong. It was much harder to find a decent job with a decent salary than I originally thought. And when I was able to score a job, I found out that there are much more to learn in the “corporate jungle” than there was at the university. There is the ever changing and upgrading of technologies. The changes and additions of programs, policies, and structures. Just about everywhere, there is much more to do, much more to explore, so much more to learn, and so much more people in need of things that you could share with them. And to keep up, I should go on and try new things and upgrade myself. I let myself open to new possibilities. Like a sponge, I tried to absorb as much information my brain could carry. As a result, my perspective widened. I have found new set of goals and have been able to form a whole new set of passion. Finishing college and being professional is not the end, but only the beginning of the new race.

I am almost finished with my master’s degree program now. I am not saying that it is easy, but everything is worth it. At first, my reason for enrolling is just to meet a certain education requirement for the position I am vying. But as my journey at Graduate School began, I’ve met lots of people from different organizations, I’ve learned things, big and small, and most especially, I have realized that my life and my career would be much more meaningful if I strive to make myself better so I could go up where I would be able to reach out best.

Learning is an endless journey. What you know now may not be applicable tomorrow. And tomorrow, there might be another something coming for us to learn. No matter what age, no matter what status, there would always be something new to learn. Never be afraid. Never be too proud. Just keep yourself open to new possibilities.
