CATANING ELEM. SCHOOL

“Individualism rather than focusing on the curricula itself.” Is one of the major fact of K-12 program of the Department of Education. The trend now is to consider the uniqueness of the learner inside the classroom, to allow them to establish connection of things taught inside and outside the schools and apply them to real life situations, lastly, to imbibe good values that they will need in the real world. The program envisions to produce functionally literate and life-long learners.

As an elementary teacher, I do appreciate the continuous changes that are happening in the entire system of the department. A teacher must be willing to unlearn the old style of teaching, relearn the developmentally appropriate practices and learn the principles of constructivism as well as its features like Inquiry-based, Reflective teaching, Collaboration, and Integration.

It is not as fluid as it seems. The changes entail pains and sacrifices but because we love our children we will try to cooperate and share whatever we can do to better serve our pupils and community.

Planning our lessons now would mean considering the 4 C’s Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration.

Our Director, Dr. Garma, added another c which is character. If every teacher in our division will embrace all these changes, we will really make a difference. Our city can really be a home of excellent individuals.

There’s no way we can translate our faith, it is only thru serving our students well. God is our ultimate boss.

Para sa Diyos, para sa bayan at para sa bata.
