BALANGA CITY-SMART Schools in cooperation of Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) successfully sponsored Division Training Workshop on PC Troubleshooting and Networking to equip and to strengthen School ICT Coordinators (SICTCs)’ computer literacy skills held on April 19-22, 2010. SMART Telecommunication’s SMART Schools through PBSP implemented the Community Service such as sponsoring training workshop in ICT. They asked assistance on facilitating such training from System Plus College Foundation (SPCF), Angeles City in the persons of Mrs. Orfi Yturralde, COMSCI Chairperson and Mr. Karlo Anunciacion, full-time College Instructor-SPCF, served as resource speakers of the training.

Division of City of Balanga divided the SICTC participants by district with specified date and venue. District I’s SICTCs scheduled training on April 19-20, 2010 at Tortugas Elementary School while District II’s SICTCs conducted its training on April 21-22, 2010 at Tenejero Elementary School.

Two-day training workshop explicitly explained the topics: Introduction about Computer, Safety Measures on Handling Computer Parts, Definition of Terms, Troubleshooting and Networking visually motivated through LCD projector and handily manipulated the making of UTP cables resulting a successful straight through and crossover for networking of PC.

Miss Riza M. Horcasitas, PBSP Senior Program Officer Operations Group Directorate said, “We want to partake in the implementation of our programs so we are thoroughly monitoring our activities like this training…”

Mrs. Maribeth De Leon, Area Manager, and Mr. Michael Bautista, Customer Care Specialist of SMART Telecommunication’s Bataan & Zambales Branch monitored the training workshop and gave some updates about SMART products and its benefits to the us as their clienteles.

This training was made possible through the initiative of Mr. Ernesto T. Robles Jr., ES I-ALS/Division ICT Coordinator and Mrs. Jennifer S. De Guzman, Principal I-Tortugas Elementary School, Dr. Leonardo D. Zapanta, OIC to the office of the ASDS and Mr. Jessie D. Ferrer, ASDS Officer-In-Charge who really supported every program of ICT to help teachers uplift teaching instructions and performance level in the division.

SICTCs’ knowledge and skills gained from the training was challenged to impart and to equip their co-teachers’ computer literacy skills in their respective schools through an echo-training seminar by cluster.
