Balanga City adds another feather on its cap

Balanga City added another feather on its cap after hitting the world’s record as the largest dance fitness class with more than 25,000 participants from all walks of life on March 18, 2016 at Four Lanes, Barangay Tuyo yet, only 16,218 were officially counted beating Mexico City’s 12,000 attendees.
The students from elementary to college, parents, teachers, principals, Government employees, DepEd officials and city folks flocked to the venue to signify their voluntary participation in grabbing a world record.
Dr. Carolina S. Violeta, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, welcomed the participants to the most significant day of the city; Hon. Jose Enrique S. Garcia inspired everyone and reminded the youth the importance of Tobacco-Free Generation. He also emphasized that their current activity was not only to get the world record but to launch his advocacy to be a smoke-free city.
The 30-minute non-stop dance began at exactly 6:00 am where more than 25,000 crowd participated in the first largest Zumba Party. The participants assembled in their assigned bays at exactly 4am.
Dr.Heng Nung Koong, the Tobacco-Free Generation founder based in Singapore, recognized the city as the first city in the Philippines committed to be Tobacco-Free Generation and commended Hon. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III for leading its constituents to worthwhile advocacies.
Among the officials who came to witness the first ever attempt of Balanga City to break a world record were: Dr.Ariel Ilaya, President, Multi-Sectoral Governance Coalition; Hon. Albert S. Garcia, Governor of Bataan; Sec. Joel Villanueva, Former TESDA Secretary; Dr. Susan Pineda Mercado from World Health Organization; Dr.Ante Trinidad also from World Health Organization; Mr. Roberto Del Rosario of FCAP and Ms. Jenaire Lyn Reyes of SEATCA.
