Teacher III- Bataan National High School

The guiding framework of Education for All (EFA) which holds that by 2015, education and students in the Philippines shall encompass borderless education. It is lifelong learning and the knowledge where computer technology and other high technological developments may serve to people.

Formal survey and studies on Philippine education, revealed basically the same problems in education in our country, the major ones being teacher incompetence , lack of quality instructional materials and textbooks, inadequate facilities and resources and lack of classrooms. These and other problems have remained because “ the political wire to implement and to continue to implement reforms over successive periods through career people in ministries with the right academic talents and administrative capabilities.

Mindful of this phenomenon, school administrators must use this as springboards of insights and ideas. The school administrator is aware of these roles in school. They must realize that education process at all levels must discover, rediscover if necessary, this particular attitude before it get lost in the jungle of dropouts and school repeaters who lack the proper education, after all they are the ones considers as the greatest economic disaster.

The school administrators are aware of their role in the country’s school system, especially now that it is being redefined. As deemed appropriate by the Dep Ed, schools are being weaned away from too much dependence on government support and all encouraged to be more autonomous. This responsibility requires that school principal possess social sophistication. They are now expected to tap the support of the local government, NGO’s and the local community ; private individuals to sustain and up grade school operation. His or her special role as “ public relation officers”, “fundraiser” or ambassador of goodwill , a paradigm of virtue are nonetheless, still expected of the Philippines 21st century school head.

The school principal of the present century is empowered to infuse system change rather than simply manage the school and the people in them. They are expected to be progressive movers. The “gatekeeper of change” unlike the somewhat static protestor-of- the status –quo. Among the most important strategies of the school administrators is to improve the formation of the intellectual as well as the general well-being of the child after all. To develop the capacity of the school to achieve high level of achievement for all.

To realize the vision of EFA, I will improve my leadership responsibilities, like establishing moral purpose, reinforce relationships, set expectations, build capacity, exemplify learning, lead symbolically, administer effectively, answer to the call of the constituent group and most of all formulate and implement plans for the students, teachers and the school as a whole.
