Being a mountain is similar to being righteous because only a person who stands for truth would remain standing and could sustain his or her stature. As what the emperor in Mulan said, “No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it.” Therefore, despite of wind’s ability to bend trees like rubber bands, create power, blow things, and even create waves as big as mountains, it would remain unseen and unrecognized unlike the mountain which is deemed as steadfast and stable.

This short and clip statement really inspired me. When I graduated from my masters, my dad challenged me to aim for the highest salute. Thus, I persevered in finishing my post graduate studies and in the process of doing so faced many circumstances which do not only require courage but most importantly faith. Such experience made me realized that the highest salute which my dad once told me is not pertaining to being on top. There is more aside from reaching the summit of every mountain climbed.

Having that realization, I could say that hard work is indeed vital in accomplishing our goals in life, yet, being a mountain is not simply about sustaining our post. It’s not purely being successful rather it’s more of learning the art of bowing to the people around us as a sign of respect despite of our achievements. Most importantly, it is about holding our head up high not to intimidate others but to express our gratitude to God.

Although it is very evident that mountains cannot be shaken nor shattered easily, let’s all “Be a mountain under the sky and not on top of the plains.” No matter how accomplished and great our achievements are, we shall bring back all the glory to Him. Truly, nothing is above anyone else but Him and when given the chance to be a mountain, don’t forget to remind yourself not to look down at others but look after them instead. If you are certain enough of your ground, you have nothing to lose.

In cognizance to the reality that you know more about things should not be a reason to act high and mighty toward others. If you can do this, it is without doubt that you are definitely a mountain for you do not have to howl to prove yourself. The plains without doubt will speak for you.
