I have been with Alternative Learning System (ALS) of Department of
Education (DepEd) for almost 12 years when I retired in the service.
At first, I worked as an instructional manager for Out-of-School Youths
(OSY) when I was teaching in Tortugas Elementary School, conducting
classes for OSY on Saturdays and Sundays. Then, I was recommended to be
the ALS Coordinator of the district. After three years, I became OIC of
ALS while being the principal of M.P. Cuaderno, Bo. Central, and
Tenejero Elementary School. Finally, I was promoted as Education
Supervisor of ALS in Division of City of Balanga. I really thank God
for this because I believe by means of ALS I can help the OSY and
adults who were not able to acquire education that they wished to have,
mainly because of poverty.
I would like
to take this opportunity to inform the people of Balanga City that ALS
opens up opportunity for OSYs and adults to develop, enhance and
strengthen their talents and skills to become productive citizens in
the future. One major training ground is the Functional Literacy which
is intended for secondary dropouts. ALS plays an important role in
promoting education for school leavers.
the community people of Balanga City, ALS is not only the venue to
enhance the education of our youths but also provides a venue for
shaping-up their personalities who in the future will be of great help
to the city and their communities..
warmest congratulations to Ms. Masae Iijima, JICA Volunteer, and the
staffs of KATUWANG for their worthy undertakings of having this
newsletter because I believe a pen can be a potent tool to bring about
to every community that ALS can be partner in transmitting information
with regards to the important projects offered by the government
through ALS of DepEd.
ALS needs your
supports like donating chairs and tables for the students to make
themselves comfortable while having their classes in some barangays.
Let us stand hand in hand and work together for the common good of our
OSY and adults.
